Neighborhood Watch Description:
This work is a 22″ x 30″ oil painting inspired by my research on the Corvid family of birds which include crows, ravens, magpies and jays. Every text I explored remarked on the intelligence of these animals. They are capable of face recognition, self-awareness and even bargaining with human beings for favor. In this work I combine the omniscient gaze of the crow sitting on a power line with an old pair of Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers. The shoes have been twisting on the power line for decades, weathered time capsules, a feeble attempt of the human that tossed them up to claim the crow’s sky.
All original oil paintings are completed on either archival Mylar or 100% cotton rag canvas. Unless otherwise noted in the artwork description, all paintings are unframed and shipped rolled in a heavy-duty shipping tube.
